National Air Ambulance Week runs from 6th-12th September to celebrate the life-saving work of air ambulances across the UK.
This year we are asking our supporters to come together at work, at home, at school or with your social bubble to raise the profile of Lucy Air Ambulance for Children – the only fixed-wing air ambulance charity in the UK – and raise vital funds to help continue our service.
Everyday air ambulances across the UK rely on public donations to fund their life-saving work. The NHS has no dedicated funding for air transfers and COVID-19 has made it extra difficult for air ambulances to fundraise. That is why we hope you will join us this National Air Ambulance Week to celebrate our work and help us raise funds for life-saving air transfers. Here are some ideas of how you can get involved:
Host a Virtual Quiz Night
Let us know your preferred time and date, and we will create and host a 30-minute general knowledge quiz for you. All you have to do is email the link to everyone you would like to take part. Entry is £5 each and there are cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
Virtual Danceathon
Create your best dance playlist on Spotify, get all your friends or colleagues together to host a virtual danceathon over Zoom. We did this back in May with our friends at Houlihan Lokey and had a blast! If you need any help organising your danceathon please email us at info@lucyaac.org.uk.
Virtual 5K or step challenge
Challenge your colleagues to run a virtual 5K together or 10,000 steps every day through National Air Ambulance Week. If you would like a bigger challenge, you can sign up to run the Virtual Great North Run. It’s completely free to enter and you can download an app which will play sounds from past races, along with motivational messages as you take on the 13.1 miles. Find out more here.
Bake sale
A bake sale is a great way to raise funds at home, at school or at your workplace! We can provide you with balloons and leaflets about our work to display at your bake sale. If you would like some Lucy AAC cake toppers, you can buy them here.
