Rob planned to take part in the Great North Run this year to raise funds for Lucy AAC after we transferred his twins Lily and Henry in 2017 when they were born prematurely over 300 miles from home. However, the Great North Run was sadly cancelled this year due to COVID-19 so Rob, determined to raise funds to help other families, decided to run a half marathon in his local area instead.
This run was an extra special event for Rob as he wanted to run in memory of his Mum and friend Emma who both sadly passed away the year the twins were born.
Rob took on the challenge on Sunday 13th September – the date he should have run the Great North Run. He was joined throughout the route by friends and family who cheered him on and crossed the finish line with the help of Lily and Henry.
Rob raised £1,563 for Lucy Air Ambulance for Children which will go towards funding another child’s life-changing flight.
Could you take on your own challenge to help Lucy AAC in these challenging times? Whether you take on a sponsored silence, hold a virtual workout class or danceathon, or see how long you can keep a balloon in the air, you will be raising money to fly seriously ill babies and children to hospital.
