What is National Air Ambulance Week?
National Air Ambulance Week runs from Monday 6th – Sunday 12th September to celebrate the life-saving work of air ambulance charities across the UK.
Lucy Air Ambulance for Children (Lucy AAC) is one of 20+ air ambulance charities serving communities across the UK that are entirely funded by generous public donations. We are proud to be the only air ambulance charity in the UK that flies children to hospital by aeroplane so that they can receive life-saving treatment and care.
How can I get involved?
We appreciate any support you can give our Charity during National Air Ambulance Week. Here are a few ways you can get involved:
We are currently only able to fly 2 out of every 4 children who need our service. Your support can ensure we reach every child that needs us.
To celebrate the end of National Air Ambulance Week, we are hosting a Charity Family Fun Day at Horsforth Golf Club in Leeds on Saturday 11th September. We have so many exciting activities planned and entry is just £1pp (suggested donation). We hope to see you there!
Whether you take on a running challenge, hold a bake sale or see how long you can keep a balloon in the air, you will be raising funds to fly seriously ill children and babies to hospital. We love to hear all the creative ways our supporters are fundraising, so please let us know if you are taking on a challenge for Lucy AAC by emailing info@lucyaac.org.uk.
How can my company get involved?
If you think your company could support Lucy AAC during National Air Ambulance Week, please call Carla on 07904 229292 or email carla.yarrow@lucyaac.org.uk. She will help your plan a fun day or week’s worth of fundraising activities, including:
- A Paper Airplane Contest– show off your paper plane building expertise and see who can throw their plane the furthest. One A4 sheet of paper is all you need! We suggest £1 per person.
- Breakfast Bites – early morning meeting? Use the office kitchen to cook up some breakfast for colleagues for a set donation. Subtract the cost of the ingredients and donate the rest!
- Bonus Ball Wednesday – for £2 each, pick a number between 1-59 until all numbers are gone. The number that pops up on that nights UK National Lottery Bonus Ball is the winner and they get a portion of the prize pot. We suggest 50% to the winner and 50% to charity.
- Flying High themed quiz – get your thinking caps on and why not do a travel themed quiz, for a small donation per entry.
I can't donate right now. Can I still get involved?
Of course! Here are 4 completley FREE ways to support Lucy AAC this National Air Ambulance Week:

Could you give 4 hours of your time to support Lucy AAC? We are looking for volunteers to help us run our Charity Family Fun Day at Horsforth Golf Club on Saturday 11th September.
